And Jesus Said- "For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted."

So how do you humble yourself? A question not easily answered...how do you humble yourself? You humble yourself by serving others. This is why Christians feed the homeless, volunteer their time, become missionaries..... They are serving others. When you serve someone - you are placing their needs above your own. You are serving them.

The greatest example of servitude took place on the night of the last supper. The disciples of Jesus were arguing who would be the greatest and who would be the least in heaven. As they debated- Jesus removed his outer clothing and knelt down and began to wash their feet. You must understand back then- there were no vehicles - people walked where they had to go. As he washed their feet- one disciple said, "you shall never wash my feet."

Jesus was their teacher- he was the Lord. How could he kneel down and wash their feet?

Jesus answered, "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me."

"When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. "Do you understand what I have done for you?" Jesus asked them. "You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them."

What most people don't understand is that Jesus washed the feet of all of his disciples- even Judas the one he knew would betray him that night. It was an ultimate betrayal that led to Jesus being beaten, whipped and then crucified - a most painful death. He served Judas.

As a Christian- you have to go out and wash the feet of the world. You have to serve those that may speak poorly of you, turn their back on you and may even betray you. You must serve to humble yourself- because "For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted."
